Actor Rajesh has stated that M.G.R. threatened some individuals who were involved in a private affair with actress Savitri, and that everyone has another side to their life. Speaking about Nadigaiyar Thilagam Savitri, he shared the following in an interview:
'While I was at a shooting location, Savitri was staying at the house behind it. I went to see her, and her son Satish was the one who took me inside. I can never forget seeing her that day. She was just alive in body.
Savitri shouldn't have married Gemini Ganesan. It's not fair to say he made her take to drinking.
Savitri had lost all her wealth, and her house was on the verge of being seized. She had nothing left to give. At that time, when her car driver told her, "Madam, I'm leaving," she gave him the car she used. That driver went to Kerala, became well-off, and only recently passed away.
Gemini came from an orthodox Brahmin family. Though Savitri and Gemini had lived separately for a long time, when Savitri passed away, Gemini brought her to his home. His first wife did not object to it.
For Savitri, M.G.R. took on a bad reputation. He confronted some people involved in Savitri's private affairs and even took revenge on a few.
However, Savitri was not very interested in acting with M.G.R. Her intense love for Gemini Mama (Ganesan) was the real reason for her downfall.
There was a film shooting going on nearby in Chennai called "Praptham." A local influential person named Suryakanth, who admired her performance in the film "Pasamalar," helped with the shooting arrangements. One day, he brought a big fish to Savitri's house.
Savitri immediately cooked the fish and served it as dinner to the fan. She even let him stay overnight and served him coffee the next morning before sending him off. No other actress would likely do something like that.'
Thus, actor Rajesh shared various insights about Savitri.
