Ambati Rayudu is a star batter in international cricket and IPL. In 2010, made his IPL debut for Mumbai Indians. Then he went under the hammer and Chennai Super Kings bought him in the 2018 IPL auction. Rayudu retired from international cricket in 2019.
Now, the veteran cricketer has retired from IPL as well. Ambati Rayudu announced his retirement ahead of IPL 2023 finals. CSK clashed against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad amid the rains. He played a champion knock of 19 runs in 8 balls during a crucial situation against the best bowling lineup of the season and led CSK to the 5th title.
Ambati Rayudu retired as a champion after winning the fifth IPL trophy for the side. This is his third IPL trophy as a CSK player and he has three trophies with Mumbai Indians as a player. He holds the joint record of the most IPL trophies as a player along with Rohit Sharma. Thala Dhoni asked Rayudu to receive the trophy last night to honour his incredible career.
Elated Ambati Rayudu shared emotional words after the match last night. He said, "It's a fairytale finish and I couldn't have asked for more. It's unbelievable, really fortunate to have played in some great sides. This win is something I will remember for the rest of my life, for all the hardwork in the last 30 years, happy that it finished on this note. I would like to take this moment to thank my family and thank my father, without him I wouldn't have been here today."
